On May 31, 2019, the Sustainable Development Policy of Kazakhstan Development Bank JSC (hereinafter - the Policy) was approved with the Resolution of the Board of Directors of the Bank (Minutes No. 218-219-11).

For the effective implementation of the Sustainable Development Policy, the Bank pays due attention to stakeholder engagement. In order to determine the list of Stakeholders, the degree of their influence on Development Bank of Kazakhstan JSC, a Stakeholder Map was developed within the Policy. The Stakeholder Map is intended for systematisation and visualisation of information about the environment of the Bank and its Subsidiaries, for an adequate business strategy with each of the Stakeholders.

In its activities, Development Bank seeks to follow the principles of careful and rational attitude to the environment. When financing investment projects, Development Bank assesses their environmental impact in the territories of their implementation.

Investment decisions criteria of Development Bank are not exclusively economic in nature, they also consider social and environmental indicators. At consideration and examination by Development Bank of investment projects, their compliance consideration with environmental standards is mandatory.

As the financial institution, Development Bank, among its priorities, pays attention to environmentally friendly industries and resource-saving projects lending.

Paper-free approach implementation

In 2019, large-scale work was carried out to optimize the main business processes in DBK. The Bank has completely switched to electronic document management. With this, already in December it was possible to fully integrate with Baiterek Holding in order to eliminate the use of paper documents. Within the transition to paperless operations, an electronic archive has also been introduced and HR record management has been automated.

With the modernization of infrastructure and hardware, the authorized bodies of the Bank were switched to online operation, voting and decision-making are now carried out in electronic form and certified by the electronic digital signature.

For the Development Bank, this is a deliberate step that allows for the transparency of procedures, helps to reduce deforestation through the reduction of paper workflow and symbolizes a commitment to the principles of sustainable development.Within the framework of environmental protection measures, the Bank installed 12 waste paper boxes in 2019.

HR Management Policy

The HR Management Policy of Development Bank of Kazakhstan JSC is aimed at building an effective model of personnel management. The Bank strives to recruit, train and develop personnel at a high quality level in order to achieve its strategic goals and objectives.

In 2019, in order to effectively implement the Talent Management System in the Bank, the Bank switched to the HR business partnership model. HR business partner is a manager who is responsible for resolving all issues related to personnel management issues in relation to certain divisions of the Bank.

In addition, the Bank carries out full-scale automation of business processes, including personnel administration. In 2019, the switch to the signing of documents using electronic digital signature (EDS) was implemented, which in turn made it possible to automate the personnel administration processes.

Health protection of employees and labor safety

The Bank provides its staff with social warranties and compensations as prescribed by the current legislation of the RK, and consistently pursues and develops additional social programs and benefits.

Thus, within the framework of the Social Support Program for employees, the Bank provides medical support and mandatory insurance for employees on an annual basis. Within the framework of voluntary health insurance, a number of disease prevention programs are offered in addition to the main programs. For the convenience of employees, the practice of visiting a general practitioner at the Bank for examining employees is periodically provided.

Provision of healthy and safe working conditions, as well as risk of industrial injuries and occupational morbidity minimisation, is carried out in accordance with the Labor Protection and Industrial Safety Policy of Development Bank of Kazakhstan JSC, approved with the Resolution of the Board of Directors of the Bank dated May 31, 2018.

Sponsorship and Charity

The Development Bank sponsors various events and social projects that contribute to strengthening the Development Bank's reputation and forming a positive image. Sponsorship and charitable assistance from outside is provided in accordance with the Policy in the field of charity and sponsorship of the Bank, approved by the decision of the Board of May 3, 2018.

Also, on the initiative of employees of the Development Bank, privately, material assistance is constantly provided to sick and needy children, assistance with clothes and shoes, toys for children from orphanages and boarding schools for children with disabilities.
