The installation of catalytic cracking RFCC is the second stage of the plant modernization project and the most difficult in terms of technology. The processing of raw materials at this facility marks the completion of the overall modernization and reconstruction of the entire oil refinery.
In 2011, the Shymkent Oil Refinery modernization project started in the framework of the New Industrialization Program. Last year, the Development Bank of Kazakhstan opened a credit line for completion of these purposes for $ 932 million for a period of up to 13 years.
"The project of modernization and reconstruction of the Shymkent oil refinery is realized in two stages. At the first stage, the enterprise established the production of gasoline and diesel fuel of ecological classes in K4 and K5 (analogous to Euro-4 and Euro-5) adopted in the countries of the Customs Union. Now the oil refinery concentrated efforts on increasing the capacity. According to the goal of the second stage, the plant must process up to 6 million tons of oil, said Serik Akhmetov, senior banker of the Directorate for Customer Relations of the DBK.
The so-called "heart" of Shymkent oil refinery - catalytic cracking unit - is designed to process up to 2 million tons of raw materials a year. In general, the capacity of the plant as a result of this plant will be increased to 6 million tons.
"This installation makes it possible to increase the depth of processing. Fuel oil, heavy oil residues, we recycle and receive high-quality fuel, diesel, gasoline, which meet the standards of K-4, K-5. In last year we reached a position on quality. By the end of September, after completing all the work, we plan to raise and quantitative indicators. The output will be higher both in quantity and quality, noted Bolat Abdualiyev, head of the complex of the catalytic cracking RFCC of PetroKazakhstan Oil Products LLP.
The first batch of high-quality fuel from this plant in the enterprise is expected to get ahead of schedule - in August.
