If before the pandemic, oil was in the first place in the export line, then after that the priorities changed significantly. Ferroalloys came to the fore with an export volume of $ 642.4 million. Ores and concentrates of chrome, copper and zinc close the top three leaders in exported goods. Their volume amounted to $ 215.8 million (13.5%).
Recently, there has been increase in non-resource exports. The top-5 leaders of the most demanded non-food export goods included the rails of the Aktobe Rail and Beam Plant, the construction of which was financed by Development Bank of Kazakhstan.
The unique plant is the only one for the production of differentiated heat-strengthened rails up to 120 meters long of high quality and medium-sized shaped rolled stock in Eurasian Economic Union. The plant was built from scratch in 2016 as part of the SPIID RK for 2015-2019. Development Bank allocated a loan in the amount of USD 284.69 million for a period of 20 years. The total cost of the project was US $ 406.7 million. Today the high quality of ARBZ products is confirmed by international consumers from countries such as Russia, Ukraine, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Belarus, Afghanistan, Estonia, Latvia, Turkey. The volume of exports of the Aktobe Rail and Steel Beam Plant amounted to $ 15.6 million (1%).
In the Aktobe region, with the participation of DBK, a project is being implemented in the mining and metallurgical industry - one of the world's largest producers of high-carbon ferrochrome, the transnational company Kazchrome. In 2014, DBK opened financing for the Company for the construction of a plant for the production of high-carbon ferrochrome on the territory of the Aktobe Ferroalloy Plant. Despite the challenging 2020, the Company produced 1.84 million metric tons of ferroalloys, which are supplied to the leading stainless steel producers in China, Japan, the United States, the European Union and Southeast Asia. In 2020, more than 1.7 million tons of ferroalloys were exported.
The third project in the Aktobe region, implemented with the participation of DBK, is the gasification of settlements and the modernization of the gas distribution networks of the Aktobe region, thanks to which Irgiz v., Komsomol v., Uil v., Bogoslovka v., Enbek v., Taldysay v., Kossetek v., Akkuduk v., Zhaysan v. are provided with natural gas. DBK's participation amounted to about 13 billion tenge.
