The Development Bank of Kazakhstan JSC hosted a seminar on sustainable financing organized jointly with Citi. As a reminder, Citi acted as ESG advisor on the Bank's sustainable bond issue in April this year.
More than 70 representatives of subsidiary organizations of Baiterek Holding took part in the seminar. Mr. Asset Sharipov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board, welcomed the participants, noting that Citi is a long-term partner of the Bank. He emphasized that the Bank actively implements international standards and practices, supports projects aimed at sustainable development and implements sustainable financing instruments.
The seminar was led by Shumi Mitra, Sustainability Specialist in Debt Capital Markets at Citi, who has over 5 years of experience in structuring green and sustainable transactions for global clients.
At the event, participants learned about key aspects of sustainable finance, including available opportunities, processes for analyzing and selecting green and social projects, and the specifics of using funds and reporting on sustainable finance instruments.
"We were pleased to share relevant information on sustainable financing and emphasize the importance of such instruments for the country's economy with the participants", said Adina Berikkyzy, Director of International Cooperation and Funding Department of DBK.
The seminar was an important step in promoting sustainable investment and provided participants with useful information for the development of sustainable financial solutions in Kazakhstan.
