Kazakhstan will soon be able to export high-voltage transformers

By the way, the Asia Trafo plant being currently built will be one of the first in Central Asia to develop and produce shunting reactors, autotransformers, transformers weighing up to 300 tons - 120 units per year for various purposes of power and industrial electrical networks.

The project is implemented with the support of Development Bank of Kazakhstan JSC and DBK-Leasing JSC in the framework of the 2015-2019 State Program of Industrial and Innovative Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The total cost of the project is 17.9 billion KZT, of which 8.7 billion KZT and 4.7 billion KZT is a means of Development Bank of Kazakhstan and DBK-leasing, respectively.

"The implementation of the project will cover 70% of the needs of the Kazakhstan market in 110 kV transformers and 50% with a voltage of 220 kV, thereby significantly reducing the share of imported foreign transformers in Kazakhstan. At the same time, the new capacity of "Alageum Electric" will allow to export to the nearest markets up to 50% of the plant's production. Also, more than 220 new jobs will be created in the framework of the project" said Okashev Sansyzbai, senior banker of the department for working with DBK clients.

Russia, Iran, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and other CIS countries are considered potential markets.

Among the competitive advantages of Kazakhstani transformers is the use of modern software in the design. That is, according to the Director General of the «Asia Trafo plant, Sergazy Kuntuarov, the enterprise relied on new technological thinking and highly qualified team.

"The plant applied the brand new production control systems that provide continuous access to information about every manufactured transformer, starting from the stage of design documentation development till shipping and service maintenance. We have a customized approach to every order, where the optimal design is calculated considering all customer requirements", S. Kuntuarov noted.

At present, equipment installation is finished within the field construction works. R60 and R100radial drilling machines of KNUTH (German firm) are installed. Tuboly-Astronic (Switzerland) lines for electrical steel length cutting cross-cutting are prepared for installation and awaiting for the arrival of Chief Engineer, works on installation of MicaVac (Germany) vacuum drying chambers for drying the active parts of transformers in solvent steams are also in progress. This heating technology allows to reduce the process duration 1.5-2 times, removes moisture from the isolation the maximum way possible and increases the average lifespan of transformers. The construction of the oil purification station and oil pipe to the assembly shop is also being continued. Testing laboratory equipment made by HIGVOLT, Germany is being installed.

The testing laboratory which is unparalleled for the Central Asia will perform a set of acceptance tests and routine tests to guarantee quality compliance with international standards.

In addition to the erection of production facilities, a five-story dormitories for employees of the plant is also being built.

The plant is expected to be commissioned till the end of 2018.
