The construction of the Karaganda coal beneficiation plant began in September last year, but today Qaz Carbon LLP produces up to 300 tons of high-quality coal concentrate per hour. The enterprise is capable of enriching raw coal with an incoming ash content of 15% to 2-3% parent ash thanks to a unique technology that allows maximum extraction of minerals from the total rock mass of raw materials. The whole process takes place in a closed cycle, without the use of chemicals and huge areas for water clarification pools, which in turn minimizes the impact on the environment, reduces production times and costs, ultimately affecting the cost of finished products in one way or another.

“Control over the quality of finished products and compliance with the manufacturability of production is fully automated and is carried out by the operator from the production control center, which allows us to confidently assert that the coal concentrate of the Karaganda plant meets all existing international standards. The enterprise was built from scratch - this allowed us to take into account the slightest nuances to achieve high results: our concentrate is of high quality, is able to compete in the international organic energy market due to low cost and fast delivery times,” said Yerlan Nigmatulin, a shareholder of Qaz Carbon LLP.

The total cost of the project, including related to the construction and launch of the beneficiation plant, as well as the modernization of the existing foundry, amounted to 12 billion tenge, the participation of Development Bank of Kazakhstan was 9 billion tenge, the rest of the funds were the own participation of Qaz Carbon LLP.

The key suppliers of raw materials are local coal enterprises. Despite the fact that the main consumer of finished products is the Karaganda Ferroalloy Plant of YDD Corporation LLP, the beneficiation plant is actively expanding the export geography of the region, since a significant part of the Karaganda coal concentrate is exported.

“The borrowed funds of DBK were provided within the framework of the State Program of Industrial and Innovative Development, as the project is aimed at expanding the export potential, developing the Kazakhstani processing sector and at replacing imports, as well as improving the socio-economic state of the Karaganda region. Qaz Carbon LLP is a valuable partner for the Bank, which was able to launch the factory in such a short time, create over 100 permanent jobs in the region - and all this despite the unstable economic and epidemiological situation in the world. On behalf of the DBK team, I congratulate the enterprise with the start of work and wish you further success,” shared the Chairman of the Management Board of DBK Abay Sarkulov.

According to David Kemertelidze, shareholder of Qaz Carbon LLP, the project to build a coal beneficiation plant was implemented in less than a year thanks to the well-coordinated work of the company's team, as well as the founders' rich experience in implementing large investment projects in Kazakhstan.

“For us, this is not the first project of this kind in Kazakhstan, we have already launched industrial facilities of this scale and in practice we have made sure that the country has a huge raw material base for creating products with high added value, a unique investment climate, support from the state in the face of national development institutions - all this contributed to the fact that today another first-class plant has appeared in Karaganda, capable of making the region a production leader,” said David Kemertelidze, shareholder of Qaz Carbon LLP.
