«The signing of this document is an important step towards strengthening economic ties between Kazakhstan and Japan. The parties intend to cooperate within the framework of financing investment projects in various sectors of the economy, such as energy (including alternative energy), infrastructure (including transport), engineering, the food industry, and others. Additionally, the Memorandum will facilitate the exchange of information on potential financing opportunities for projects with environmental and sustainability components involving Japanese companies in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Development Bank of Kazakhstan and Japan Bank for International Cooperation have a long history of collaboration. For example, with the support of preferential loans from the Japanese bank, DBK financed two major infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan: the expansion of the Aktau port and the construction of a gas-turbine power plant in the Kyzylorda region.
