Development Bank of Kazakhstan JSC took part in XII Congress of Financiers of Kazakhstan. Theme of the event, which brought together leading experts and representatives of country's financial sector, was "Liberalization of Financial Sector: Rights and Obligations". The Congress was held under auspices of the sustainable development of financial sector and introduction of ESG principles.
During panel session "ESG Agenda in Financial Sector: Expectations, Results, Forecasts", Chairman of the Management Board of DBK, Marat Yelibayev, presented the Bank's achievements in the field of sustainable development. In his speech, the Chairman noted that DBK supports sustainable development of Kazakhstan actively through financing environmentally significant projects aimed at reducing the carbon footprint in loan portfolio and supporting environmentally friendly projects.
"We strive to make sustainable development an integral part of our strategy by investing actively in projects that promote environmental and social sustainability. This is DBK's contribution to sustainable future of Kazakhstan", Marat Yelibayev said.
It is worth to note that the Bank has implemented successfully 2 issues of green and debut issue of sustainable bonds, which was an important step in development of this area. Issue of sustainable bonds was the first in international capital markets for an issuer from Central Asia.
The Bank supports actively projects in the field of renewable energy, including wind, solar and hydropower, energy efficiency projects and sustainable agriculture projects that ensure food security.
