DBK INVESTED 506.2 BLN TENGE IN PROCESSING INDUSTRY AND INFRASTRUCTURE IN 2020

The slowdown in the growth of the world economy and the global decline in production volumes had an insignificant effect on DBK's lending activities. DBK finished 2020 with a positive financial result. According to unaudited data, the consolidated net profit amounted to 25.4 billion tenge. The volume of equity capital amounted to 516 billion tenge, showing increase of 21% compared to 2019.

During the reporting period, 9 investment projects were approved for financing, as well as 4 export operations costing 195.4 billion tenge. We are talking about such large projects as the construction of a plant for the production of Hyundai passenger cars in Kazakhstan, enrichment plant and modernization of the foundry in Karaganda, the construction of Saryarka ferroalloy plant with a sintering plant, the construction of the tourist complex "Caravan-Saray", as well as the supply gas pipeline to five settlements in the Korday district of the Zhambyl region and other projects.

The dynamics of capacity launch in 2020 also showed a positive trend. Thus, for 12 months of last year, the Bank modernized and commissioned 9 large enterprises, which have a significant social, economic and multiplier effect on the development of the regions of sale. About 1 942 new jobs were created throughout the republic. In 2020, more than 17 billion tenge were paid to the republican budget. Among the launched and modernized enterprises are not only industrial giants but also "green" projects. For example, the construction of the second 50 MW start-up complex of the Astana EXPO-2017 wind farm in the Akmola region, the Kaskelen 50 MW solar power plant in the Almaty region, a tourist complex “Aktau Resort Hotel” in the Mangistau region, Hyundai cars production in Almaty and others.

The volume of attracted funding in 2020 amounted to 542 billion tenge, with 74,9% of which are market funds. For each tenge, the Bank attracted 2.98 tenge of market loaning from state funds. DBK uses various funding instruments in the domestic and international capital markets: for example, 35% of the attracted market funds were interbank loans, 15% were Eurobonds denominated in tenge, and the remaining 40% were local bonds, 10% - deposits from other financial institutions.

The share of loans in tenge in the structure of the loan portfolio increased from 20.5%, or 78 billion tenge, in 2013 to 54.5%, or 1 076 billion tenge, according to the preliminary results of 2020.

As a key operator of the State Program for Industrial and Innovative Development for 2015-2019 (hereinafter referred to as SPIID), DBK approved 26 investment projects for financing totaling 544.2 billion tenge out of 581 billion tenge. In the period from 2015-2020, 5.5 thousand new jobs were created, the volume of products sold in 9 months of last year amounted to 1 349 billion tenge, export products - 1 044 billion tenge. The volume of tax payments to the budget for the same period reached about 187 billion tenge. Many projects that have been created under SPIID including the construction of the Aktobe rail and beam plant, the sodium cyanide plant in Karatau, the modernization of the plant for the production of mineral fertilizers in Aktau, the reconstruction of the passenger terminal of Astana International Airport, the expansion of the Aktau international seaport, the construction of a plant for the production of power transformers in Shymkent, construction of a poultry farm for growing broilers (stages 1 and 2) in the Akmola region, construction of a ferrosilicon production plant in Karaganda, reconstruction and modernization of the Shymkent refinery, construction of a methyl tert-butyl ether production plant in Shymkent, construction of the Turgusun Hydroelectric power plants in the East Kazakhstan region, gasification of five settlements in Kyzylorda region and others.

Within the framework of DBK's participation in the implementation of the State Program for Infrastructure Development "Nurly Zhol" for 2015-2019, as of December 31, 2020, 800.6 billion tenge were disbursed to finance domestic exporters, support wagon manufacturers, and car manufacturers, and finance the manufacturing industry through STBs, of which 753.1 billion tenge are funded from the National Fund of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the remaining 47.5 billion tenge are from UCPF.

According to the strategic plans of the Development Bank, the potential projects worth up to 820 billion tenge, as well as to provide loans for 460.8 billion tenge, respectively will be considered in 2021. Moreover, DBK will commission and modernize 10 production facilities.
