Development Bank of Kazakhstan JSC (a subsidiary of the «Baiterek» holding, hereinafter referred to as the Bank, DBK) held the second panel session «DBK Talks: Sustainable Development».
The event was attended by experts, representatives of government agencies and the financial sector. The main purpose of the session is to share best practices and ideas in the field of ESG (ecology, social responsibility and corporate governance).
At the panel session, speakers were Zulfiya Suleimenova, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Special Representative of the President on International Environmental Cooperation, Oraz Zhandosov, co-founder of «Universal Energy Qazaqstan», Renat Bekturov, Governor of the Astana International Financial Center, Nurlan Kapenov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qazaq Green Renewable Energy Association, Didar Karimsakov, Chairman of the Board International Center for Green Technologies and Investment Projects and Marcia Favale, Member of the Board of Directors, Independent Director of the Development Bank of Kazakhstan JSC.
The discussion touched upon such issues as international, environmental cooperation, the introduction of ESG principles into the Bank's activities, the development of projects in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources (RES) in Kazakhstan, environmental research, energy transition and the development of a program for the Green Climate Fund. The participants of the event had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss both strategic and practical aspects of sustainable development.

The panel session highlighted the need for further interaction between government agencies and public organizations to achieve carbon neutrality in Kazakhstan by 2060.
