Construction has begun in Pavlodar on a plant for the production of alkylate - a major investment project being implemented by INTERTRANS C.A. LLP with financing from the Development Bank of Kazakhstan JSC (a subsidiary of the Baiterek holding; hereinafter – DBK, the Bank).
The design capacity of the new facility is 97.6 thousand tonnes of alkylate per year. Alkylate is an environmentally friendly, high-octane component used in motor and aviation petrol, which will enable the country to be supplied with products meeting the K-5 (Euro-5) standard.
The implementation of the project creates additional added value within the processing chain and increases the depth of utilisation of feedstock supplied to the region. The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan has repeatedly emphasised the importance of developing such projects in the non-resource sector and the priority of producing competitive, high value-added processed goods.
The total cost of the project is 36.6 billion tenge. DBK has provided a credit line of up to 26.033 billion tenge under the Programme for Financing Large Projects in the Manufacturing Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Bank’s borrowed funds will be used for construction and installation works and for the procurement of equipment.
“The project is an example of effective partnership between the state and the private sector, aimed at developing the processing industry and strengthening the country’s energy security. I am confident that the successful implementation of the project will serve as an incentive for the development of the petrochemical cluster, attracting new investment and reinforcing Kazakhstan’s position as a regional industrial leader,” noted Vladimir Li, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of the Bank.
The project will create around 500 jobs during the construction phase and 125 permanent jobs at the main production site.
The launch of the plant is scheduled for 2027.
