JSC Development Bank of Kazakhstan (a subsidiary of the Baiterek holding company, hereinafter – DBK, the Bank) organised a press tour to the largest greenhouse complex of Ecoculture-Eurasia LLP in the Turkistan Region.
The Bank provided financial support for the construction of a 51.88-hectare greenhouse complex – one of the largest agricultural projects in the country.
The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan spoke about the development of such initiatives at the second Forum of Agricultural Workers: progress in agriculture means the development of rural areas and regions, and therefore of the entire country. Kazakhstan has all the necessary resources to fully realise the immense potential of its agricultural sector.
“Over the past ten years, the volume of gross agricultural output has increased more than 2.5 times – from 3.3 trillion to 8.3 trillion tenge. By 2030, we must double this figure once again. This is a completely achievable task for us,” President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasised at the Forum.
The total budget of the project is 64.1 billion tenge, with DBK providing 50.8 billion tenge in financial support as one of Ecoculture-Eurasia LLP’s key partners.
The Bank’s loan funds were directed towards financing construction and installation works and acquiring high-tech equipment. This made it possible to introduce modern agricultural technologies suited to the region’s climatic conditions and the requirements of year-round production.
“The Development Bank of Kazakhstan played a crucial role in implementing our project, and thanks to its financing, our greenhouse facility employs all the modern technologies available in the greenhouse industry today. These include microclimate systems, nutrient-solution supply systems, and the creation of ideal conditions to achieve maximum yield and unlock the full flavour potential of the plants,” said Alexey Shemetov, head of the Ecoculture-Eurasia greenhouse complex, speaking about the results achieved thanks to the investment in the enterprise’s development.
He also conducted a tour of the greenhouse complex for media representatives, presenting the production units, equipment, and technological processes of the enterprise.
The complex is capable of cultivating up to 12 tomato hybrids of various type categories and other crops simultaneously. The project also carries significant social value for the region: more than one thousand jobs will be created at the facility.
In addition, a full employee-training system operates here – from the first day until independent work. Initially, each newcomer undergoes a basic training course under the supervision of a training specialist, followed by an internship at an operating greenhouse complex, where future vegetable growers work on real sites and consolidate their skills in practice. To date, more than 100 employees have completed the full training programme.
“This project can be considered our strategic flagship in the agro-industrial complex, clearly demonstrating how DBK supports high-tech, large-scale initiatives enabling Kazakhstan to become a regional exporter of high-quality agricultural products,” noted DBK banker Sabira Katbayeva.
The project also contributes to strengthening agricultural cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia: with an annual production volume of 27,000 tonnes of vegetables at full capacity, the enterprise plans to sell its output within Kazakhstan and in neighbouring regions of the Russian Federation – in Siberia and the Far East.
