The new production line on the basis of "Prommashkomplekt" LLP (hereinafter - PMK) provides a full cycle of production of wheels for railways around the world. The project worth 54.1 billion tenge was financed by 66.5% by "Development Bank of Kazakhstan" JSC (a subsidiary of "National managing holding "Baiterek" JSC, hereinafter - the Bank, DBK) under the State Program of industrial and innovative development of Kazakhstan for 2015-2019. In order to finance the project DBK opened a credit line in 2015 in the amount of 36 billion tenge for up to 19 years.
"The project fully corresponds to the mandate of the Bank, as it has three components that are important for the development of non-resource economy of our country: import substitution, export potential and high productivity in comparison with similar industries in the EAEU countries. It is important to take into account that in the geographical proximity to Kazakhstan there are countries with a developed railway network, which increases the demand for wheel products manufactured by PMK", - said the Managing Director of the DBK Adil Ismagambetov.
Up to 70% of the wheels produced by the enterprise are planned to be supplied to foreign markets, including Russia, Europe, India, China and South Korea. PMK plans to reach its full design capacity in the first half of 2019. Taking into account the current needs of the market, by 2020, the possibility of expanding the production capacity of the Complex to 300,000 wheels per year is being considered.
"The Complex created on the basis of PMK is the most high-tech and robotic among similar enterprises in the EAEU space. Commissioned line of hot rolling allows to eliminate the dependence on the importation of billets for the production of wheel products. Raw materials for our company will now be rolled steel, which can be supplied by many metallurgical enterprises, including those located in our country," - said acting General Director of PMK Sergey Akhonko.
The Complex put into operation can produce all-rolled railway wheels of various diameters and disc designs - from 700 mm to 1,250 mm . The high-tech equipment installed at PMK (press-rolling line and thermal section) allows to master new designs of wheels, and also to reach high mechanical, strength characteristics of production. The quality of the wheel products will be controlled by automated installations of ultrasonic and magnetic particle inspection and hardness measurement for all elements.
